I love my monthly DIY Dinner Parties! This month we did a DIY Pizza Party!!! It’s so fun to get together with friends each month and catch up on life. This month we included the husbands, it was nice to mix it up. We were brought together by our love of wine, pizza and great conversations.
One of the things I like best about my Food & Friends dinners are setting up the decor! It’s fun to dream up the centerpiece, the table settings and create an ambiance that is fun and inviting. My best friend is really talented when it comes to decor and parties. She sets the scene so beautifully, I just had to have her help with my centerpiece! What we came up with turned out BEAUTIFUL!
Here’s how to do a centerpiece like this at your next DIY Pizza Party
- 1 yard of red cotton fabric
- 1 white square fabric napkin
- glass hurricane jar
- candle holders & candles
- fruits & veggies
- greenery for the table
- scrapbook paper
- craft, red & black card stock & white chalkboard pen
- black cloth napkins
- hole punch
To set up the centerpiece, I ironed the red fabric and set it over an old wooden silverware box. I wanted the table to have some dimension so I added some height to it by covering up the box. You can put anything under there that can hold some weight. For example, stacks of books.
Bring in another color over the red to brighten it up. Add your hurricane filled with fruit or veggies, I picked lemons and artichokes. This is a good way to add color to your table. The candlesticks go on each side of the hurricane. Two on the box and the other set down next to the box. We created a little Pizza Bar banner by cutting out red & black squares then writing the letters on them. Punch holes in the corners and thread the twine through. VIOLA, a Pizza Bar Banner! Since we bought Oregano for the homemade pizza sauce and to use as a topping we incorporated that into the decor & hung our banner up. You can use any sticks or skewers that are laying around the house to attach the banner too.
For the table settings for each guest I bought some scrapbook paper for the placemat! This is so fun and easy because you can score these for cheap when they are on sale and you can customize them to your theme! I created the menu on my computer and printed them on the craft card stock. I did the same for the name tags then punched them out with this fun punch. Put some holes on the sides and wrap them around the menu with twine. Adding rosemary to each setting made the table smell so appetizing!!!
Now that the table is ready…let the fun begin!!! I started everyone off with a glass of wine!
Then we got the Pizza Party started! Each couple made their own pizzas!!! I bought pre-made dough from Trader Joe’s. It would have been lovely to make it myself but why, when someone else has already perfected the dough! The herb crust was delicious!!! It’s not a DIY Pizza Party unless you’re tossing crust!!!
I did make my own pizza sauce the night before!!! What made this sauce even better is my sweet Olivia helped with it! We had the best time cooking together! She was so intrigued by all the ingredients! I got the recipe from one of my favorite cookbooks, Paleo Indulgences. The recipes I’ve made in this book are amazing!!!! This is another great recipe from Peace Love & Low Carb!
I set out a variety of toppings: cheese, pepperoni, mushrooms, green bell peppers, artichoke hearts, black olives, & pineapples. This is where you can really get creative with pizza making! Each couple created their own pizza then we baked them! I chose to bake them on pizza stones to make the crust crispy.
Finally we enjoyed the food & each other’s company! Dinner was amazing, the conversations flowed and the dessert was tasty! I made dairy free gelato for dessert and it was delicious. It tasted more like ice cream because I pre-made it but no one complained. 😉
